Panchet Dam
It is one of the most famous tourist spot of Dhanbad, well known for its scenic beauty.
It is supposed to be ideal destination for who want to get rid of humdrum life of city and want to enjoy the natural enviroment and worth view of nature.

LOCATION: DHANBAD DISTRICT OF JHARKHAND STATE
54 KM From Dhanbad and 20 km from Asansol and 12 km from maithon
nearest railway station is KUMARDHUBI (KMME) 8 KM of distance.
ABOUT PANCHET:
Panchet was the last of the multipurpose dam of DVC, which was constructed on 1959 and inaugurated by our first P.M..
This is a hydel power station of 80 mw made on Damodar river.
The reservoir is constructed under the foothills of PANCHAKOT hill...which is releted to TILAKAMPA kingdom of 1st century ad...DYNASTY of king SINGH DEO, who ruled here and made their grah (fort) on panchakot hill...but when the construction of dam was started the ruins of the garh begun and later out of twenty temple of 1st ad only few remain in panchakot hill.

NEHRU PARK:
one can enjoy the view of dam from this park and also spent their leisure time here ..this place is heaven for children..there are lots of JHULLAS and many more which can entertain childrens.

BOAT RIDE:
there is no boat riding facility in dam under the dvc authority..but you can go to the local fisherman who have traditional type of boat

FLOWER PARK:
Most known place now a days in panchet dam...flower park is run under the W.B govt..this project was much valueable for dvc..
enjoy the beautiful decoration of park full of grass and flower.
there is no entry fee require for the park
PANCHAKOT HILL:
When you will cross the dam you will enter the area of Raghunathpur dist of W.B. there is a hill known as panchakot hill or panch grah...there is a temple of ancient indian time..these are supposed to be jain temple of 1st century ad..grah mean fort that was kingdom of king SINGH DEO and his dynesty.
temples are not so much in good condition but now a days W.B govt take care of these temples.

SNAKE PARK:
This park is run under an amazing man, Mobarak Ansari.
He is a true animal lover, especially snakes. he is local snake catcher. you can visit snake park which is near d.v.c hospital
there is entry fee for each person.

HOW TO REACH:
BY ROAD:
panchet is easily accessble by road from dhanbad (52 km),asansol (20) km.
from maithon dam it is 12 km far.
BY TRAIN:
Kumardhubi railway station (8 km) and barakar railway station (10 km) you can hire auto from these station.
WHERE TO STAY:
Rest house of W.B.F.D.C is nearest to the dam for lunch and some refreshment..
for night stay you should go for hotels in dhanbad and asansol.
